Reports states, 50 Sri Lankan fishermen arrested for intruding the Indian territorial waters for fishing were recently released by Indian officials. Along with the fishermen, 18 fishing boats which belonged to them were released. |
| The Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry said after the relevant documents are completed by the Indian External Ministry, activities will commence in bringing back the fishermen to Sri Lanka. The fishermen detained are natives of Tangale, Trincomalee and Negombo areas. Reports states, 113 Sri Lankan fishermen while engaged in fishing illegally in the Indian territorial l waters were detained in India and their boats too were seized by the Indian officials. But now arrangements are processed to release the detainees was mentioned by Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne. |
