[ Friday, 29 October 2010, 04:48.46 PM GMT +05:30 ] The Colombo High Court ordered five years rigorous imprisonment to Wellington D Horde the second respondent mentioned in the case charged against Sarath Fonseka for the allegations of involvement in arms procurement through the Hycope organization owned by Sarath Fonseka’’s son-in-law Danuna Thilakaratne. The punishment had been given to him as he had accepted the charges was mentioned. In the meantime the main respondent to this case Danuna is still absconding. Sarath Fonseka is designated as the third respondent. Sarath Fonseka’’s secretary Senaka Silva had been released today by the Colombo Magistrate court. He was arrested at the United National party headquarters located at Sri Kotha. The high court previously ordered Uthul Premaratne including four students to produce in Courts. The order was given to the Cinnamon garden police. Colombo Magistrate Rizmi Singapuli gave the order to arrest on charges that by joining with the university students he had intruded the Higher Education Ministry office demanding job opportunities recently.

Meanwhile Uthul Premaratne had discussions with United National party Deputy Leader Karu Jayasooriya in regard to the issues of Universities at the Party’’s headquarters Sri Kotha, and while leaving he was arrested. Qatar Job Employment Agencies had pointed out that discussions held by the Sri Lankan Ambassador for Qatar did not turn successful. According to the earlier statistics, 3000 workers from Sri lanka was leaving for jobs to Qatar for a month but the figures have dropped to 500 now. There is danger that male workers may lose job opportunities in Qatar.

Last year, this legislation was submitted, but the Tamil Makkal Liberation tigers party rejected the legislation. On the context that the minority parties other than from the north and east in other provinces will get affected. In this regard, some amendments were requested on this. Party’’s spokesperson Azath Mowlana said that his party will support to the amended legislation which is submitted at the Eastern Provincial Council after one year. He said, there are some shortfalls in the legislation, but the amendments which his party demanded, most probably may had been corrected was mentioned by him.

The party will pay more attention towards mainly the implementation of 70 percent electorate system and 30 percent percentage basis. President’’s Attorney Romesh De Silva presented on behalf of the petitioner appealed in courts that the petitioner should be produced in courts, but the State counsel opposed to it.
